Just got a 2022 Elantra SEL. I was able to successfully pair a Samsung Galaxy S10 for Android Auto wirelessly. We then tried to add my wife's phone, a Samsung Galaxy S9 because we will both drive this car, but the Bluetooth pairing didn't prompt for Android Auto, only handsfree calling and audio.
If your trouble goes away, do this: go into the car first, connect your phone, make sure everything OK, and only after this allow your wife in. Other words, your phone must have a priority connecting to the car. Also let me guess that your car is not paired with your phone.
